Falling Tears Cannot See the Sorrow

Falling Tears Cannot See the Sorrow

December 2014, Projection mapping on plasma cut steel. 12 x 24 x 1/8 inch. "You cannot feel the weight of your sorrow in the middle of ruinous sadness just as a free falling object cannot feel its weight. But when you only witness the index of anonymous tears, do you see the motion on the surface or the emotion behind?” Exhibited and sold at the ‘Moist’ group exhibition at Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Ana, CA. Melange exhibition at Fava Gallery, Oberlin, OH

A Trace / Fragment of Memory

A Trace / Fragment of Memory

November 2014, Wood panel, Fine sand, Paint, Matches. 26 x 24 inch. While a moment is being impressed on our memory, some moment is being vanished. Indeed, we are losing fragments of memory but the moment once we experienced is still remaining as a trace in our subconscious. The fragments of memory are being vanished, broken into several pieces, burned to ashes, or remained soundly like the piled matches on the right piece during our life. Exhibited at Melange exhibition at Fava Gallery, OH.

May 2014. Video projection, Modified exit sign. The concept of the video is taken from a ferry accident that took place in South Korea on April 16, 2014 in which many high school students were trapped on board with no exit as the ship sank. The light sensor in the exit sign turns the LED on and off depending on the brightness of the video projected onto the sign.

No Way Out

No Way Out

March 2015, Modified exit sign, Arduino, LED, live digital camera, projector. Live feed of the exit sign from a digital projector connected to a camcorder, creating an infinite image as if two mirrors were facing each other. It multiplies the LED light coming from the sign and ultimately changes the whole image depending on the camera angle and the brightness. We pass by exit signs everyday, however, these exits ultimately become entrances to a different place.

People are Regulated by People

People are Regulated by People

October 2014. LED backlights, Arduino, Double side mirror box, Mirror paper. The piece alternates between mirror and text. When the lights in front of the piece are on, it reflects views' faces and when the lights inside are on, it shows the text saying "are regulated by".
